1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Hidesktop macOS application (the "App"). It explains how the App handles information, when it requests system permissions, and how it interacts with Apple-provided purchase services.
2. Who We Are
Hidesktop is provided by Makkker. In this Privacy Policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to the developer and operator of Hidesktop.
3. Information We Collect
Based on the current version of the App, the App does not create user accounts and does not upload your personal information, desktop content, screenshots, files, or usage content to developer-operated servers.
The App primarily processes the following information locally on your device:
Desktop visibility state, used to show or hide desktop items.
Current wallpaper image, processed locally when you enable the "Sync Wallpaper" feature so the hidden-desktop view can match your wallpaper.
Local settings, such as whether Sync Wallpaper or left-click quick toggle is enabled, and local purchase-state caching stored on your device.
In-app purchase status, retrieved through Apple's StoreKit framework so the App can determine whether Pro features are unlocked. We do not directly receive your card details or Apple ID credentials.
4. Use of Screen Recording Permission
When you enable the "Sync Wallpaper" feature, macOS may not always allow the App to read the current wallpaper directly. In those cases, the App may request Screen Recording permission to locally obtain a clean desktop background image so the hidden-desktop view looks natural.
Please note:
This permission is requested only when you actively enable the related feature.
The permission is used only to generate or refresh the local desktop background effect.
The App does not continuously record your screen because of this permission.
The App does not save, upload, or transmit your screen content to developer-operated servers.
If you choose not to grant this permission, you can still use the App's core hide-desktop function, but Sync Wallpaper may be unavailable or limited.
5. In-App Purchases and Apple Services
The App offers in-app purchases, including a yearly subscription and a lifetime unlock. Payment processing, subscription management, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple and remain subject to Apple's terms, privacy practices, and App Store rules.
Through Apple-provided APIs, we receive only the minimum purchase-related information needed to unlock features, such as:
Product identifiers
Whether a purchase is currently active
The unlock state for subscription or lifetime access
We do not directly collect or store your payment card information, Apple ID password, or Apple billing details.
6. Sharing and Third Parties
Other than using Apple's system frameworks for in-app purchases, permission requests, and system feature access, the current version of the App does not share, sell, or rent your in-app information to third parties.
If you open an external link from within the App and visit a website, that website's privacy practices are governed by its own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
Because we do not currently collect or store your personal data on developer-operated servers, we do not maintain a cloud-hosted personal data profile for you.
The App may retain necessary settings and cached information locally on your device, including:
Feature toggle states
Local cache of purchase status
Local wallpaper-sync-related cache
You can remove this local data by:
Turning off the relevant features in the App
Deleting the App
Clearing or resetting local application data on your system
Information related to App Store transactions, subscriptions, or billing is retained and managed by Apple, not directly by us.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.
9. Your Choices
You may at any time:
Decide whether to enable Sync Wallpaper
Grant or revoke Screen Recording permission through macOS
Manage subscriptions through Apple's subscription management interface
Stop using or uninstall the App
Because we do not currently provide accounts or maintain user-specific personal data on developer-operated servers, we generally cannot offer account-level access, export, correction, or deletion workflows. If our data practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be made available through a new app version, the official website, or another public page. Please refer to the most current version.
